Home-grown produce eaten in school.

  The labours of Mrs Bowes’ gardening club paid off. The children enjoyed the fruits of their labour by having a slap up meal of home-grown potatoes and raspberries. They were thoroughly enjoyed by the children and it was a great treat for them to see their hard work come to fruition.

Y5 Winners at Multi-Sports

Well done to Year 5 who competed against other schools from across the Town in a Multi-Sports Competition. They were successful in being crowned champions in the event and were great ambassadors for the school.

Dance Festival

On the 26th of March, Year Five took part in a dance festival at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre. We took part with lots of other schools. Easter Activities

This week, the children in Key Stage 1 have been taking part in a number of Easter related activities. These included learning about the Easter story, egg rolling, an Easter hunt, making Easter chocolates and cakes and number work relating to Easter. Red Nose Day Fun!

It was strange to see a sea of RED!! Byerley Parkers turned out in their finest gear – red clothes, glasses, head boppers and of course, NOSES!! For the privilege, they paid £1 each. Angi and the rest of the Kitchen Crew created Red Nose biscuits for lunch. Can you spot the fab balloons in the hall? We raised about £250 for Comic Relief.

Year 1 Wow work

This week in Wow Writing, Year 1 have been writing instructions on how to make a yummy chocolate house! This tied in nicely with our work on Houses and Homes and Materials. The children were captivated and produced some wonderful work. At the end of the school day the children enjoyed sampling the chocolate house!

Tennis Win for Year 3

Year 3 entered a tennis tournament at Greenfield school on Friday 6th March. The competition was a challenge using various tennis skills and a chance for them to improve them. They were up against strong opposition from Stephenson Way but with determination they came out on top and were overall winners of the competition. Well done Year 3. Wilko Winners!

Our school were one of two lucky schools to be the winners of a starter Bird Feeding Kit supplied by Wilko. This report has been written by four Y4 pupils During our ‘Themed Week’ we studied ‘Tom’s Midnight Garden’. All of the Junior children made some fantastic birds, along with a poster of Hatty and Tom. We had a Pantomime production, which was great.

Our Trip to Beamish – Year 1

On Wednesday, 28th January Year 1 went on a school trip to Beamish. This trip is following on from work we have been doing about houses and homes from the past. All of the children made a fantastic effort getting dressed up in Victorian clothing and even the adults joined in the fun of getting dressed up! We were booked in for two workshops.
